CARA Mentorship Program
About the Mentorship Program
The goal of the CARA Mentor Program is to provide CARA members the opportunity to partner with experienced research professionals who can offer guidance in prospect development and research. Every effort will be made to match individuals with a mentor from a similar organization who is also experienced in the area(s) of need.
Mentorship Program Benefits
Becoming a mentor is a great way to give back to the prospect research community by sharing your knowledge with a novice researcher or an experienced researcher who wants to extend their knowledge further. For mentees, it is an opportunity to learn from an experience professional. The program also provides a great networking opportunity for both the mentors and mentees, as well a way to share different perspectives and experiences!
Commitment
The world of prospect research and development is always changing! Promotions, new job duties, employment changes, as well as time availability to mentor may change. This is why we only ask that both the mentees and mentors commit to six months of communication. This also provides virtual networking opportunities with a new mentor with different experiences every six months.
Since it is only six months, we ask that you communicate once if not at least twice a month. If a mentor is not responsive, please give them a gentle nudge and time to respond. If they are still unresponsive, please let the mentor chair know. If a mentee is not responsive, or you feel they are not asking enough questions, please check in with them. If they are still unresponsive, please let the mentor chair know.
